At book signings, there was a lot of interest as to what happened to Peter & Shannon?
"Later, in the wee hours of the night, a silent time of peace and stillness, Peter and Shannon sleep. Their naked shoulders peep from under the sheet. Peter lies on his back snoring, and his head is turned away from Shannon who lies on her stomach. A sudden flinch—she groans and makes a short grunting noise. Her piercing blue eyes pop wide open in agony. Her right arm drops down off the side of the bed, and her eyes stare out in a cold, dead glaze.
The hours pass and the early morning sun shines across Shannon’s pale body. Peter awakens. He rolls over to Shannon’s side and kisses her naked back. “God, you’re cold,” he says.
He doesn’t notice the inconspicuous movement crawling under the sheet at the foot of the bed that slowly moves upward between Shannon and him.
She doesn’t stir. Peter shakes Shannon trying to awaken her, but again, she does not move. She does not flinch. He shakes her more, but rigor mortis has begun. Her body is heavy and stiff..."
