Are We a Technology Driven Society?

11/8/2015

A few weeks ago, I asked if we were, no maybe I should have said we are a technology driven society. I’m sitting in a local coffee house which is where I find some of my most defining characters—love to people watch cause the human species is interesting. But, let me not digress. I’m sandwiched between three bridges of society, one, a family—a mother and what looks to be her 12-year-old teenager and on my other side, another woman.  All three are texting away, reading from or listening on their cell phone or iPAD, tablet, etc. There is no talking or other verbal communication, just signing (two thumbs) a new kind, the cell phone kind. After fifteen minutes of texting, one of the species talks, the mother. And what I thought was going to be a bonding moment of dialogue between mother and child, turns out to be a cell phone conversation with the mother talking to someone else on their phone. The child has earplugs stuck in the ears and is listening to something on WHAT—their cell phone, iPAD, or tablet, etc., whatever. Hmmmm…technology driven…

Are We Becoming a Computer Dependent Society?

9/25/2015

For the past several days, I have been without a computer (my computer went kaput). Well, I put the computer in the shop for repairing. Of course, because my computer is glued to my hip when it comes to writing, and it was going to take a little time for repairing, I immediately purchased another. Especially, because I tried using my phone which was semi-okay, smaller keys sometimes made it rather cumbersome, and writing manually for me is sometimes inefficient (everything written has to be reentered into the computer, slightly impatient with redundancy). Hmmm... I thought, whenever I call customer service about anything be it products for sale, insurance, flight questions, business, etc. and I'm asked to wait, call back, or put on hold because the computer is not processing or slowly processing or get a message on the computer that the computer Is temporarily down for maintenance and I can't access anything, I concluded that maybe we are becoming a computer dependent society. Will we become like the humans in H.G. Wells, "The Time Machine," thoughtless, incapable of performing or thinking because someone or something does it for us? Hmmmm, I ponder. What do you think?

Wee Hour Writer

9/15/2015

Well, I've been up since 2am which is my usual habit with the intent of writing and I did, but when I took a break around 3:30am (surfing the web), I found some interesting tidbits for authors. One is the Reading Divas Book Club located in Washington, D.C. The leader, Sharon Lucas had a very interesting blog and a plethora of notes about the goings on and happenings with their book club. As a matter of fact, the group is sponsoring an author's event during the same weekend that I will be in Vegas and I would love to attend. But all is not lost, I can donate a book for a giveaway and of course I will do that. But if you are in the DC area Oct 16-17. Sounds like it will be a rocking weekend for authors and readers. And lastly, there was mention of the largest event for authors to showcase their books, network, and learn about the business and art of writing books. Authors from around the world will swarm this event. That's the BEA (BookExpo America) which will be in Chicago, May 11-13, 2016. My goal is to be there, hopefully, with Book 2 of the continuation of the Love Has No Ending trilogy. See you there! Send me an email if you'll be there, too. Cheers!

What Are The Chances?

8/23/2015

Family is visiting this week and I'm doing the LA tourist thing. We went to Universal Studios and guess what a great opportunity I got. Not only did family get to take a picture with the beautiful and gracious Tracey Edmonds, co-host for the hit show and 2014 Emmy® Winner for Outstanding Entertainment News Program, EXTRA-TV with handsome Mario Lopez and lovely Charissa Thompson, I gave her my book and she took it. I hope that she will read it and maybe want to produce my suspenseful thriller with a high-tech twist. Keep your fingers crossed!

Chatting with the Fans

7/13/2015

Today, I had my first online chat with the fans today, which by the way I am going to do every other month. I loved how engaged the fans were and the questions posed. Based on their questions, it let me know that the story piqued their interest. Like, we covered Chapters 1-3 and the interest in trying to find out what happens next to a character lets me know that the story is holding their attention and they want more. Today's group was 10, but I am going to increase that number so more fans can participate. I really appreciate this time to answer fan's questions and look forward to the next.

My Next Story aside from the LHNE Trilogy

6/30/2015

My next story will be an interesting romantic comedy, a collection of short stories about the romantic adventures a woman has with her lovers, but there's a different spin about each one that they all have in common. I can't wait to start on it. I'm actually gathering facts already.

What Holds Your Attention ...Suspense?

6/27/2015

Is it suspense, intrigue, action or romance? I love them all. A good book with a lot of twist and turns that will keep me guessing until the very end. I don't expect or want a predictable story. And, that is what I try to incorporate in my writing,Tell me what you think. If you have gotten a book, please take a moment and give it a review at Amazon.com. The fans and I would truly appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

Developing a Character

6/14/2015

You know when I’m creating the different characters,  I usually come up with people that I have met or seen in my life. But, oftentimes, my main characters are created from the many celebrities we see on television and film. I study the characters. I look at who has great chemistry with their male or female counterpart. A lot of research goes into learning more about the celebrity and watching them on screen for physical, mental, and emotional moves. There is so much research put into discovery that helps me develop a character including their occupation in the story, their romances, and much more. All of this adds to my character’s personality and tends to help draw me into a character. Like Jill, she’s a stunning beauty that is a talented artist who has a great capacity for giving but rules her world. There is no mistake about who is the boss. And then, there’s Troy, handsome and rugged looking. He’s kind, very family oriented and will do anything within his power to protect his loves. But his life in a world of killing, devotion, and duty will come back to haunt him.

Now, that you know some of my thought process, who do you think Jill and Troy could be?

Just Another Note...

The interest in Peter and Shannon was a whodunit question. And, who do you think did it?
